Well, May has been a pretty busy fun month for the McClendon Family.

First weekend of the month we were in Montreal with relatives, the Chiangs. We visited Quebec City with Paul and Cathy, along with Cathy's parents. In Montreal we saw a lot of churches, chinatown, downtown and the port.

Second week we headed to Hawaii for vacation on the Big Island and Honolulu. It was a beautiful island and we saw three facets; the green rolling hills, the volcano mountain which is still active and the dark lava land. The Hilton Wikaloa was a haven in itself with all kinds of amenities including dolphins. We also attended a Luau by the sea. Then we headed for Honolulu and visited Pearl Harbor. It was a solemn sight and helped me (Jane) understand what Dec. 7, 1941 was all about.

After Hawaii, went to Lakeland near Tampa to my brother Benji's. We babysat for them while they went to the Bahamas on a cruise. Steve's mom met us in Houston on the way there and spent 5 days with us. She got to spend valuable time with Ariana since she hadn't seen her since March for the dedication.

We returned to Miami and a couple of days later had to set off for Brazil as Steve had to work there for the week. We were in Petropolis, which is a beautiful mountain city near Rio de Janeiro. Very few people spoke english and we were not familiar with Portuguese which was a little bit of a problem. But overall it was a good week. We spent Sunday (which was the only day Steve was not working) in Rio de Janeiro.

We returned to Miami on 5-27-99 (today). Now we have to look forward to the big move to the new house and then next month head off for Sweden for 3-4 weeks.

Ariana is growing and learning a lot. She sits up now and moves around on the bed. She fell off the bed for the first time this week so we have to be more careful. She loves the pool and is not afraid to be in her float by herself (even though we are always nearby). She loves watching TV so I play Psalty which is about a human singing songbook that teaches Jesus songs.
